Agent Provocateur unveils Kirsty Hume as Betty Sue

There is something about Agent Provocateur and their flame haired models – Australia’s own Tiah Eckhart fronted a ad campaign for the lingerie label with Catherine Bailey and Daisy Lowe. Joining their ranks is long-time Scottish model Kirsty Hume, who put on a bright orange wig for her role as Agent Provocateur’s Autumn/Winter 2010 protagonist, Betty Sue.

“Agent Provocateur is the most erotic lingerie in the world and I use it for my pleasures,” says Hume about her new employer.

According to Agent Provocateur’s Creative Director, Sarah Shotton, Kirsty Hume was cast as Betty Sue because “Kirsty became a top model in the 1990s. She represents our perfect woman, a woman with a family that oozes unbelievable intelligence, sensuality, personality and confidence. She has a film noir, feline quality to her that I felt had a brilliant synergy with Agent Provocateur.”

The Agent Provocatuer 2010 A/W collection comes with a two-minute film staring Betty Sue as well as a print campaign and 2010 A/W lookbook ‘Private Tapes’ which is inspired by strong female protagonists from late 20th Century Hollywood cinema. Directed by Johan Renck, with creative direction by Sarah Shotton, the film shows a sultry and dominatrix side of Hume that we don’t often see. Mind you the Betty Sue film also see’s a male model in not so tighty-whiteys.

Admittedly the video is hot, but the lingerie isn’t exactly beautiful on the female form. Sexy in a dominatrix way yes. But all those cut outs and layering… no wonder it’s just for a special occasion.
