Gemma Ward lands a part in Pirates of the Caribbean 4

Gemma Ward resurfaces in the tabloids again. This time with news that she has a landed a role on the latest movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. She will reportedly feature in the movie as a mermaid alongside Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and fellow Australian Geoffrey Rush. The movie starts filming in Hawaii this week and Ward will reportedly join the cast in August for her small speaking part. “Gemma’s focus is definitely on acting,” a ‘friend’ told the Sunday Telegraph. “She’s spent the past year studying the craft full time in New York.”

This news comes off a report in Grazia Australia in April that the former supermodel was in talks to appear in a theatre production at the Sydney Theatre Company later this year. It would be quite a coup if this were to come about with Cate Blanchett co-artistic director of the company.

Neither rumour has been confirmed by her camp or her agency IMG and Ward’s name is currently absent from the movies’ IMDB cast list, but it all sounds promising that the much-adored model will step back into the limelight soon enough, even if it’s not in a fashion campaign or runway.
