RAFW S/S 2011 preview: Kim Ellery on her upcoming collection

If Australian fashion design had an IT girl, Kim Ellery would be the reigning queen. The former fashion editor has created a fashion line that has party girls Australia wide racing to pick up each piece as they hit stores, and her recent collaboration with Australia’s hottest high street chain Sportsgirl, just solidifies her standing. We spoke to her briefly to ask her a few things about her up coming show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week next week.

Tell us a little about the collection you’re going to launch for S/S 2010/11
Kim Ellery: This collection is about the Zodiac and subtle asymmetry. I have researched each star sign and based a look on the character traits of that sign; including cusps. There is a lot of shimmer and tailoring.

What can we expect to see from your S/S 2011 show at RAFW?
KE: A little bit of theatre in our creative concept for the set

What can we expect to see beauty-wise on the runway – crazy and artistic make up or something any girl can take off the runway into real life?
KE: A little bit of both.

Who do you see this collection on?
KE: My friends Kinga, Ilona and Wendy. Because thay are all chic ladies with a very cool sense of style.

What will you do when your RAFW show is over?
KE: I hope to fly over to New York to visit my friend Wendy James.

KE: I love Jak & Jil and YouTube of course.
