Con woman who posed as a Vogue editor jailed for three years

Emma Charlton was previously a con woman called Emma Golightly and met men through lonely hears ads and acted like she was Paris Hilton to give the appearance that she was rich and successful. She was eventually caught and jailed for conning £250,000 from unsuspecting men. When she was released she changed her name to Charlton and told her new victim that she was a successful photographer with terminal cancer. He proposed to her and Charlton organized a glamorous party at an Edwardian mansion known as Slaley Hall Hotel in Northumberland, telling staff that she was an editor at Vogue. Ah the things people do for money and esteem – aside from working a 9 to 5 for it like most people. Her lawyer said she had a personality disorder. [Telegraph]
