Heidi Klum designs maternity wear for A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood

I love how every celebrity launch is timed to coincide with some other project they’re doing. Maximising press or adding to over exposure? We can’t decide. But we are quite interested in Heidi Klum’s latest fashion adventures as we wait for season 7 of Project Runway to start – the mother of four has announced that she’s collaborated with A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity to design two maternity lines set to hit stores next month.

Yes, that’s two collections – she must have thought she could do a better job than some of the designers in challenge two of Project Runway season 6. LAVISH BY HEIDI KLUM for A Pea in the Pod is a 15-piece collection which will feature iconic style and detail construction while the LOVED BY HEIDI KLUM for Motherhood is a 14-piece collection is all about comfort, playfulness and a supermodel style.

“I chose to call my collection for A Pea in the Pod Lavish because there is no grander name to express everything you want to give yourself and the child growing within you,” said Heidi Klum.

“For Motherhood Maternity, Loved is a celebration of new life and the love around you and your baby. I experienced fashion challenges during my four pregnancies and combined my knowledge of what works in terms of style, comfort and practicality to create these lines. They are all about making you feel beautiful; being pregnant shouldn’t stop you from being fashionable and feeling great about your changing body. It’s an exciting journey.”

This marks Klum’s first foray back into design after announcing that she was folding her jewellery line for Mouawad in August 2009.

Both LAVISH BY HEIDI KLUM for A Pea in the Pod and LOVED BY HEIDI KLUM for Motherhood launch in their stores and online on February 12, 2010.

Yes, I heard something about this. If anyone’s got experience with both fashion design and pregnancy it’s her, so I’d say it’s a good collaboration!
