Laetitia Casta reigns supreme in French Vogue

Did I ever tell you I love Laetitia Casta? The model now actress always embodied everything French to me when we were both a few years younger. Carine Roitfeld must also be a fan with the editor of French Vogue giving her not one but three editorials in her December 2009/January 2010 issue – including the cover styled by the edtrix herself. Not many seemed to be a fan of the cover on TFS and it’s hard to love when it reminds me of Kirsten Dunst’s spring 2008 advertising campaign for Miu Miu, coincidentally photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott too. The accompanying editorial (pictured below) features the same look with the pose and accessories changed in every shot — and the purple hair?

Carine Roitfeld, surely you could have done better, no?

But rest assured, there is also a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent and an editorial entitled Lumio Laetitia, Paul & Les Autres with the former paying tribute to the great designer, a friend of Casta’s.

I love Laetitia but I’m really tired of the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott regurgitation machine of spewing out celebrities in an assembly line fashion.

It would be nice if some new blood was allowed to walk through the doors, laetitia is laetitia and not Dunst for heavens sake.

I would expect the editor of Vogue to give us something special with Ms. Casta on the cover.
