Naomi Campbell’s alligator Hermes Birkin raises 21,000 euros for charity

Naomi Campbell donated one of her many Hermes Birkin bags in pale green alligator skin to the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood who help fight deaths in pregnancy. It was sold by French auctioneers Artcurial and fetched €21,000 (USD$31,500) – an absolute steal when you factor in that the Birkin was once owned by Naomi and most exotic skinned Birkin’s would normally set you back $50k – 100k with a green crocodile skinned one going on eBay for $77,000 (though we do have to be wary of fakes). Bet the Birkin fans around the world knew about the auction, no? [AFP]
