Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker to advise Barack Obama on arts and humanities

It was long rumoured that Anna Wintour would leave Vogue to accept a job with US President Barack Obama. And it’s come partially true – she hasn’t left Vogue but Wintour has take up a position with the Obama camp as a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Joining her is Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, Edward Norton, Forest Whitaker and many more. According to the LA Times, the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities was:
Established in 1982, the committee’s mission is to work with organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities to encourage partnerships between the public and private sector on cultural projects. The committee also seeks to initiate and support cultural programs.
Fittingly the Honorary Chairman is none other than First Lady Michelle Obama.
We can understand why Anna Wintour was chosen, she is the most powerful woman in fashion and blah blah blah. But SJP? She’s an actress who scored a hit television series that was taken to the next level by Patricia Field’s eccentric styling and writing that strike a cord with women at the time. If anything, Field should have been offered the position with the PCAH.
