When news first broke that Topshop was set to hit Sydney, Australia through Incu, fashionistas were buzzing. Unlike the Topshop opening in New York, the Australian opening of Incu presents Topshop and Topman was a little more low key. There was no glitzy star studded fanfare (or the hype in the buildup), Sir Philip Green didn’t show up with Jennifer Lopez and Kate Moss in tow… but the crowd didn’t care, for once fashionistas in Sydney would not have to order pieces online instead a trip to Paddington would suffice.
In an exclusive retail partnership, the uber-cool fashion boutique Incu teamed up with Topshop to bring their designs to Australia – answering many fashionista’s prayers. And the best bit is that Incu will receive monthly shipments of new pieces!
So after hustling to Incu yesterday (timed to miss the opening queues and the lunch rush) I was pleasantly surprised find the collection was diverse: it includes the Kate Moss for Topshop line, Topman and Topshop Unique.
So how were the prices?
Tops and tshirts were priced at under $100 with most setting you back about $60, this Cosmic Zip Shoulder Pad Dress retailed at $100 (on the Topshop website for £45) with many more pretty dresses priced at affordable prices. We loved seeing the array of mini skirts, from the studded variety to feathers and stripes. Sure some pieces were heavily marked up (probably thanks to that nasty import tax) but you can’t beat the chance to try -before-you-buy mentality that keeps people from shopping online.
It was no surprise that the queue for the three change rooms snaked around the store as shoppers stood patiently with arm full of clothes. Incu looked a little like it was holding a sample sale when people gave up jumping in line and tried on pieces in store.
Have you checked out the Topshop range at Incu’s Paddington boutique?
If so what did you think?
We’re hoping for our friends interstate, that Incu will roll out the Topshop and Topman range in their boutique in Melbourne, Victoria. Given the city’s shopping prowess (espeically around the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion festival and Melbourne Spring Fashion Week) it would be very financially beneficial to consider it.
