Karl Lagerfeld has been transformed into a teddy bear but now he’s been turned into some a little more high tech — a Japanese-inspired Tokidoki doll. Meaning ’sometimes’ in Japanese, the Tokidoki doll was designed by Simone Legno and took inspiration from the manga-style vinyl toys that are oh-so-popular in Asia.
Only 1,000 Karl Lagerfeld Tokidoki doll’s have been created with Colette in Paris receiving the first drop this month, with Tokidoki stores in New York, Milan and LA receiving shipments before Christmas. Set to retail at £118 for the 25 centimeter mini-Kaiser it is cheaper than the USD$1,500 Lagerfeld bear, but we may just wait for the K Karl Lagerfeld Tokidoki print tshirt in their spring 2010 collection.
