NYFW S/S 2010: Yigal Azrouel, geometrically body conscious

After a number of pretty and chic collections, it was refreshing to see Yigal Azrouel‘s spring 2010 show at New York Fashion Week head into slightly bolder territory. Early reports out on Twitter was that the show featured graphic prints and slashed fabrics paired with easy tailoring. After watching this video i just have to add one more thing: geometry.

Azrouel took body-con and made it his own through carefully placed slits and cut-outs in some very sophisticated and youthful dresses (tip: watch out for them on the red carpet soon). Each cut out seemed to be perfectly placed to accent a (toned) woman’s body, while his outerwear also caught my eye with casually tailored jackets and blazers which feature the stiff bold shoulder. Perhaps this is the start of another resurgence for the bold shoulder, but I couldn’t help but notice the main trend so far is fluid movement from top to toe. Nary a finely tailored looks have been unveiled just yet.

This is great coverage of Fashion Week, Yigal Azrouel’s spring 2010 show looked very shapy. I think I have the shopping itch – time to go shopping on shop.com! Thank you for covering the events and posting videos! xoxo, Kat twitter: katluvsshoes
