Paolo Gucci’s ex-wife barred from using Gucci name commercially

gucci-smallJennifer and Gemma Gucci, ex-wife and daughter of Paolo Gucci, former Gucci chief designer and Gucci heir, cannot use their names commercially in the United States without trademark approval a judge has ruled. The mother-daughter pair had developed a line which included coffee, housewares, cosmetics, hosiery and handbags which bore their names and a green and red stripe diamond logo much like Gucci‘s trademarked logo. They were sued by Gucci owners PPR for damages where the judge ruled that the products and branding were “confusingly similar” and issued a permanent injunction against their commercial use.
