Mulberry wants to dress up your dogs

mulberry_pugDressing up pet can be a cruel cruel endeavor – can someone tell the people who forward me emails of poor dogs and cats dressed up in strange costumes to stop? Now if you want to keep your pet pooch warm without making them look like a character out of Lord of the Rings, Mulberry are launching Mulberry for Mutt, a collection of doggy-wear pieces which would go perfectly with my Mulberry bag – luckily I don’t have a pet dog to dress up ;) [Racked]

I need a dog just to get it this outfit! A little more practical than Target’s Harem Pet costume :-P http://www.shop.com/p245566236-xst-link_off.shtml

just because you don’t like the style of the pet clothing does not mean it is cruel. (animals don’t have a sense of style & therefore do not care) pet clothing is cruel if it is stressful to the animal, uncomfortable, causes them to overheat, or poses a danger to them (such as tripping).
i find it amusing to put my apron on my dog occasionally. (for perhaps 10 min at a time) she does not mind it, and actually seems to find it amusing as well. she is able to move freely while wearing it & she wags her tail, so i know she is happy. she will “talk” to me (making a sound like rowrowrow), acting excited and happy.
perhaps this type of “cruelty” should be judged by the reaction/behaviour of the animal. i can imagine another dog becoming distressed/frightened by being dressed. it depends upon the dog’s temperament & how well they have been socialized/trained.
