Miley Cyrus teams up with Max Azria for Walmart

miley-walmartIt’s the first teen-star and designer pair up for a high street store, so of course it had to involve Miley Cyrus. The teen sensation has teamed up with American fashion designer, Max Azria and Walmart to design a clothing line for the American chain which aims to offer affordable but ‘trend-right apparel’.

“I love creating looks that are all about personal expression and individuality,” said Cyrus. “Collaborating with Max Azria has been an amazing experience, and I’m really excited about launching this line with Walmart. There’s even more to come!”

The rock n’ roll (or perhaps “pop n’ roll”) influenced collection will include tops, pants, graphic tees, shoes and accessories which will all set young girls back less than $20 a piece and will drop in Walmart stores in time for the North American back-to-school wardrobe rush in August 2009.

The pairing is ideal as Miley sparkled on the runway in Max Azaria’s designs for Herve Leger and his own line at the 2009 Grammy’s and on the red carpet of the Hannah Montana movie premier in London. And it seems Azaria thinks so too.

“Miley Cyrus is talented and approachable, so working with her sparked a line that is authentic and vibrant,” said Max Azria. “We saw an opportunity to reach mainstream customers with our product and introduce our designs to a much broader audience.”

Judging by the one watermarked photo we could find online (so far), the collection will include easy to wear basics with trend driven items like a checkered shirt and ankle boots. A perfect collection for hanging out with your friend in, but I hope they include some cool dresses you can dress up or down.

Are you excited about the Miley Cyrus and Max Azaria collaboration for Walmart?

Fittingly, Walmart are also the title sponsor of Cyrus’ upcoming tour – much like Candies partnership with Britney Spears’ Circus tour.
