Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Summer 209/10 – Trends of Day 1

rafw-day1a

The day opened with Camilla and Marc (pictured above) to a house buzzing – not just from excitement, but from twitters. Anyone with a mobile or a laptop was chattering away on Twitter – including yours truly on @sassybella and @ChicReportOz.

So of course that makes the RAFW trend number 1, Twitters.

Besides myself, can you spot 4 fashion twitters sitting front row at Ginger & Smart? If you guessed @IssacLikes, @ImeldaMatt, @BabbleonbyJbb and @pattyhuntington then you’re 100% right. If you didn’t? Well keep your eyes peels for the Mac-pack (aka Matt and Issac who tote their Mac laptop’s around the Overseas Passenger Terminal) and get to know some fashionable twitters. I’m usually trailing behind because heels slow me down… obvious reasons.

Trend 2: The crocheted cropped top is back.

Don’t think you can bunker down this winter ladies and pile on some winter belly if you want wear some of the latest styles on the runway today at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The crop top is back from the 1990s (and I’m a little worried) -i t was spotted at both Camilla and Marc and Bec and Bridge.

Trend 3: Brights!

After the first few shows featured a muted or dark colour pallete, to be honest we thought it was super pretty but where were the vibrant prints? They eventually surfaced on the runway of Ginger & Smart (above left), Wayne Cooper (above right) and Nicola Finetti (not picture – camera trouble).

Trend 4: Zippers & tassles

Finally, after 3.1 Phillip Lim’s successful collection featuring brass zipper trimmings, the southern hemisphere has taken note of the hard edge it brings to designs and have incorporated it according. Taking a more tailored approach this season, Camilla and Marc showed off their body-con skills with their take on the bandage dress – using zippers of course.

Now…

I would talk about the other two fabulous shows of the day, Nicola Finetti and Therese Rawsthorne, but my camera battery died. Occupational hazard when taking your own photos. Have learnt my lesson for tomorrow.

But until my next update, follow us on twitter! Thanks to the Google HTC Dream on loan from Optus, I’m a little twitter happy (for now anyway).

P.S. We saw the Sartorialist in action, hope he posts some pictures up soon!
