Alberta Ferretti wants you to play in her dollhouse

Alberta Ferretti is the latest high fashion heavy hitter to join the fabulous cyber dimension of Stardoll.com — an online game, virtual playhouse, and every distractible fashionista’s new favorite procrastination tool all in one.

The Stardoll experience jars memories of playing with Mall Madness and paper dolls, but thanks to the inclusion of brands like DKNY, Vivienne Tam, and the fictional, vintage-crazed Bisou shop plus superstar pals Coco Chanel, Twiggy and Agyness, it is so much better. But without question, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti’s Stardoll suite is the game’s classiest — and of course, most expensive — shopping destination. In the Philosophy boutique, you can you scope out, try on, and “buy” select pieces from the label’s Fall 2008 collection. Before you dress your avatar in the Goth Lolita-tinged finery, take note of the ensembles conveniently “modeled” by virtual showroom rep Zelda Williams (yes, Robin’s teenaged daughter).

Unlike in real life, no buyer’s remorse exists in “StarPlaza” — Stardoll’s shopping mecca. And while in the cruel real world you dream of affording one of her frocks, in StarPlaza, you can be Alberta Ferretti’s friend. That’s right: if you like Feist, ice cream, and the show 24, you just may become Alberta’s new BFF.

Other pearls of wisdom we learned from Alberta’s Stardoll profile: her style is “contemporary…a kind of fashion that doesn’t look backwards”; she loved to play dress up when she was younger; her mother owned a boutique in Italy (so fashion really was her destiny); she is inspired by independent women who take risks and think ahead of their time (like virtually every other womenswear designer under the sun, but we digress).

We couldn’t resist ourselves: we outfitted Alberta in six of her own ensembles. And yes, we had way too much fun doing it. Check out the fruits of our labor below.
