Lascoste gets serious about tennis and the Australian Open

Wimbeldon is set to end this weekend and the Lacoste sponsored, Andy Roddick, is long gone from the tournament. But none of that is on the French clothing company’s mind with news that they have partnered up with the Australian Open in 2009, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

“Lacoste is going to be part of the upcoming Australian Open. They’ll provide us with over 1000 uniforms and be the apparel of the Australian Open. It will be for our officials, linespeople and the Aviva ballkids,” Steve Wood, Tennis Australia’s chief executive told the Herald Sun newspaper.

This seems like a match made in heaven for the brand that was founded by French tennis great, Rene Lacoste. They will join the rapidly expanding list of big brand name sponsors, Rolex, Nike and Kia Motors as sponsors of the tennis tournament.
