Yves Saint Laurent passes away overnight aged 71

Iconic French designer, Yves Saint Laurent, aged 71, has passed away overnight in Paris announced the Pierre-Berg-Saint Laurent Foundation.

Born Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent, he introduced many iconic fashion items into the world, most well known was his Le Smoking tuxedo suit as well as his work at the house of Christian Dior following Dior’s passing in 1957.

Saint Laurent retired from the world of haute couture in 2002 because of ill health after four decades working in fashion.

His funeral will be held this Thursday in Paris at the Eglise Saint-Roch with his ashes set to be laid to red at his famous Majorelle Garden in Marrakech.

May he rest in peace.

    Hey Angela,

    YSL retired from designing for his namesake collection in 2002. Following his departure, Tom Ford and now Stefano Pilati acted as the brands creative director.
