Collette Dinnigan design lingerie for Target?

Just after Zac Posen hit Australia for the runway launch of his Target Australia collaboration, news hit the papers that Australia evening wear designer, Collette Dinnigan, is set to launch a lingerie collection for Target.

Dinnigan first started her own label in 1990 as a lingerie brand before branching out into glamorous evening wear. She went back to her roots in 2006 for Marks & Spencer with Wild Hearts, an exclusive lingerie collection consisting of delicate bras and briefs featuring lace, beading and embroidered detail, which was priced from about $60.

The collection reportedly turned over $30 million collars for the British chain, and now it seems Target Australia want to get in on the designer intimate apparel market, not that publicists are talking yet. But the Daily Telegraph are reporting that magazine advertising has been bought for the Dinnigan for Target lingerie collection and set is to run in major Australian fashion magazines.

“Our hands are tied and there’s nothing we can say at this stage,” was all one publicist for Target would tell Confidential yesterday.

Dinnigan has never done anything like this in Australia, though she has fronted an American Express advertising campaign, and selected as one of 6 designer to appear on Australian Post stamps in 2005. Dinnigan fans will have to wait for confirmation on this one, but this chain store collaboration would probably be very welcome.

She would be following in the footsteps of Stella McCartney, Josh Goot, YeoJin Bae and Zac Posen to design a collection for the Australian chain of Target stores.
