Mulberry to add sunglasses to their accessories portfolio

undefinedLast week we announced that Mulberry was launching footwear to be designed by Jonathan Kelsey this Fall 2008, now it has been revealed by WWD that they will also be adding eyewear this spring.

The Mulberry Spring 2008 eyewear collection will see the British leather goods brand collaborate with “cult London designer and vintage label” Cutler & Gross for a 5 piece sunglasses collection inspired by the brands archive pieces from the 1980s and 1990s.

“We’ve made classic pieces, but with a modern twist. We have always admired Mulberry. They are very British, like us,” says Cutler & Gross founder, Monica Chong.

Known for their vivid Perspex designs, which launched in 1982 during Paris Fashion Week, Cutler & Gross’ collections since have been to incorporate optical designs with fashion which should make for an intriguing Mulberry collaboration.

The Mulberry eyewear collection by Cutler & Gross will all be handmade in Italy or France as per Cutler & Gross tradition and given names like Betsie, Jackie, Francis, and Debbie. The collection will make its debut later this month and priced around $440.
