Paris FW S/S 2008: Christian Dior by John Galliano

The house of Christian Dior celebrates its 60th anniversary (and John Galliano his 10th with the brand) this year, so it came as no surprise that Galliano referenced house classics like the Bar jacket and peaked shoulders.

It was a 57 outfit collection for dandies as it has been described; the androgynous collection was full of tailored pieces infused with 1920s through to 1940s style glamour. If men can be sexy, then so can women in men’s clothes with pinstripes, backless waistcoats, bowler and top hats, dropped waist dresses and bold make up.

The collection seemed to channel the aura of screen siren Marlene Dietrich, and not one to shy away from the limelight, Galliano took his bow at the end in his underwear, a white silk jacket and tails, socks and a top hat.
