Karen Walker to design diffusion range for Myer

When does Karen Walker find the time to sleep, the talented designer just showed her spring 2008 “Lucky” collection that just showed at New York Fashion Week, is 6 months pregnant and is now set to launch a diffusion range for Australian department store, Myer.

Runway Reporter (like a Style.com for the Kiwi’s) reports that the new range is called Hi There, “as it is like a monthly hello from Walker rather than the regular two large drops a year”.

“Karen is such a high-profile designer internationally, so to work with her here in Australia is fantastic,” Myers product development manager Bridget Veals says.

Dresses will be priced from $250 with jackets and trousers priced at affordable prices too. The collection is due to go on sale in Myer stores across Australian in February 2008.

While Myer has also done diffusion lines in the past with little fanfare with their stable of Australian designers like Toni Matecevski, but on a mainstream level, the interest in this could rival Target Australia’s Designers for Target program, which is launching it’s latest collaborations with Yeojin Bae and Gail Sorronda this weekend.
