NYFW S/S 2008: Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren celebrated 40 years as a designer with one of the best Ralph Lauren shows I’ve seen. His spring summer 2008 collection was like a scene from My Fair Lady, where the models had just gotten dressed for a day at the Royal Ascot races. The wide brimmed hats and slim silhouette dresses in black and white were exquisite, then making way for the bright colours and pretty ruffled prints.
Not forgetting the men and the jockeys who are also at the races, there were androgynous looks with three piece suits, top hats with tails and even pinstripes.
The front row was equally as impressive, with the a list of who’s who of Manhattan present. From Martha Stewart, Bobby Kennedy Jr, Lauren Bush, Dustin Hoffman, Robert de Niro, Sarah Jessica Parker, Donna Karan and Diane von Furstenberg.
