NYFW S/S 2008: Proenza Schouler

Now partly owned by the Valentino Fashion Group, the boys at Proenza Schouler certainly showed a spring summer 2008 collection that definitely had some gusto. The show started off with sharply tailored looks with hard contrasts and tuxedo inspired pieces. Waistcoats and vest were a popular piece, as were the riding hats (by Albertus Swanepoel) to add a slight military feel.

The strong look moved into a slight tribal arena, with bold zebra prints and beaded embellishments. It was very organic and less polished than what we’ve come to expect, but the boys are exploring new themes and trends which is good to see. And like many others, I loved the glamorous mini dresses in silver and gold metallic that finished off the show with a bit of sparkle and gloss.
