It’s beer and Collette Dinnigan for Kate Bosworth at Derby Day

And it’s a rather unflattering Collette Dinnigan dress too it seems.

Kate Bosworth chose to wear two Collette Dinnigan dresses for her debut at Derby Day in Melbourne on Saturday, pairing a floor-length black satin dress (with a rather unflattering neckline for her slight frame) with a beaded Cleopatra-style headpiece by Melbourne based milliner Richard Nylon.

She was in Melbourne to attend Derby Day which is part of Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival, and the platinum blonde ignored the bubbly and chose to take lady like sips of beer like an Aussie.

“I am having such a great time,” Bosworth said. “I would liken it to a large costume ball.

“I missed Halloween (in America), although this is Halloween with more class.”

Like any costume, Bosworth had another one on hand for a midday costume change, into a cream lace mini-dress also by Collette Dinnigan.

Bosworth mentioned that she had been spoilt for choice and overwhelmed by the quality of Australian fashion. “I love the Australian designers, I think they’re great.”

Hopefully she’s better at remembering designer names than fellow Hollywood star, Mischa Barton, who on her paid trip to Australia to promote David Jones designers, stumbled for names at a press conference.

I must say Mischa’s style choices in Australia was a lot better than Kate.

What do you think of Kate’s black outfit at Derby Day?
