The name is Ksubi now – not Tsubi
A rose by any other name, would it smell as sweet? Well in this case a designer denim label. Tsubi to be exact. After settling a trademark infringement dispute with the US shoe label Tsubo, they will now be known outside of Australia as Ksubi.
How confusing. If you ask me, Tsubo sounds odd. Then again no one asked me, but I said it anyway.
Dan Single, one of the founders of Tsubi say “It’s a great result for Tsubi”. Maybe because they settled the dispute our of court and all the laundry (dirty or clean) of both companies won’t be aired.
But is it a great result? After making quite an impact on the overseas market by having their trademark skinny jeans snapped on the legs of many celebrities, like Sienna Miller, Ashley Olsen, Nicky Hilon, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan. And opening their first New York flagship store on Mulberry street last year – covered on Style.com, the brand is now quite well known and popular among fashionistas all over the world.
Maybe Tsubi should be Ksubi in Australia too. Just to avoid the confusion.
Pick up a pair of Tsubi’s while you can I say.

L – R: Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan, Nicky Hilton, Tsubi Lean Beans.
